In order to apply for a FLAGS (Fund for Lesbian and Gay Studies) award, you must be a current faculty member, graduate student, postdoc or professional student at Yale University. Awards range from $500-$5,000 and are for the support of research, publication, or course development. Please read the FLAGS Awards page for full details about FLAGS awards.
To complete this application, you will be required to upload the following documents (preferably saved as PDFs):
- A description of the work for which funding is needed (at least one, but not more than four double-spaced pages)
- An itemized budget and description of the need for support (including the description of any other financial support solicited for this project); estimated airfare should be included as well as estimated hotel costs and any other travel costs
Additionally you will need to provide your home address, e-mail address, phone number, and the name of one person (normally a Yale faculty member) who will write a letter of recommendation. Reference writers should send their letters directly to lgbts@yale.edu and should comment on the applicant’s project and ability to carry it out successfully. Applications from current Yale faculty members do not require a letter of recommendation.
